Saturday, June 28th, 2008

i’m a girl on a budget!
what are the best drug store eye shadow brands in your opinion?

chiffon have been asked like a million times what i use on mine and its just cover girl Pink Chiffon or as it says on the back pnk chfn. i have used it for 8 years and will go on protest if they ever stop making it! it goes on smooth and leaves a good coverage it also has a sparkle to it that lasts all day. all i can say is to try it, its cheep what do you have to loose! also works great with brown shadow in the eye bone to give definition.

Well I don’t really buy eye shadow from drug stores but I buy a lot of make up from this campaign in Avon called Mark. It is really cool and they have a variety of make-up.
Their make up isn’t always the cheapest but their quality is amazing. Like their stuff isn’t crappy at all.
I would definetly buy it from there because in the long run you will benefit from buying good quality make up

ZA, Wet N Wild, L’Oreal, Splash…
Mostly affordable. No where near MAC pricing(:

Should you pick flower buds off plants when the flowers dry up?

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Specifically, on marigolds, dianthus?

Absolutely. This is known as dead-heading. Not only will this make your plant look nicer, but it will speed up the plant’s new flower growth. If you do this early in the flower cycle (before the flowers form and open and are just buds)you wil promote more bushy growth and the plant will have more flower sites.

—–

Waikula has it correct..I’m just confused about the comment “letting my marigold go to seed”..ALL MARIGOLDS the seed are actually under the flower in the green pod it is in..You do not have to let them “go to seed”..for under each flower is no less than 40 or 50 seeds attached to the flowers..if a marigold flowers..it has already gone to seed…

—–

If you want them to bloom again, sure.

After a while I let my marigolds go to seed so I get need plants next year.

But if you don’t want to bother doesn’t matter really.

Need help bout my laptop?

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

i have an Acer Aspire 4715z laptop.
Everytime I use it, I always plug it so that its battery life won’t decrease.
will something wrong happen if i don’t unplug it even if its battery is already full?

No. I do it all the time. The charging system is smart enough to stop charging when it’s full.

The battery acts as a power back-up so you don’t lose data or damage your computer in case of a power failure.

……

Yeah, nothing bad will happen. I run my Dell off the power cable as often as possible (since it drains the battery in like an hour :( ) It has a sensor that will stop charging when it hits 100% and just dedicate power from the adapter. Have fun!

…………

No, lithium ion batteries should be fine in this circumstance. The only real thing to degrade these batteries is time used overall, and if you first got it and didn’t let it fully charge and fully discharge at least once.

……….

Constantly charging any device usualy affects the batteries life, most rechargeable batteries have a limited amount of charges

What do you think of CNBC?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Hi everyone. I’ve been learning more about economics lately and I also, to apply my knowledge, and to learn more/keep up with economics news, have an interest in reading economics/financial news online. Would you recommend cnbc.com? Or would it be a bad site (like is it biased, confusing, etc. if you dislike it please tell me why)?

Disclaimer: I was just three courses away from having a BA in Economics. These are more random thoughts than a guide to economics.

Any news source is going to be biased - all US news sites are generally going to be biased in favor of the capitalist system. Personally, I like CNBC better than Fox News (and MSNBC more than the other two combined) - but I am a Left-wing individual.

If you want a book that will give you deep knowledge about the way that economics really works, I would read “Crunched” by Jared Bernstein. It will not help you pass economics, but it will gain you valuable knowledge.

One important thing to remember about economics is that the graphs and models that they present assume that “all else is equal” - it is the equivalent of the atmospheric physicist who makes models based on the assumption that gravity doesn’t exist. In the real world, the simple predictions made by the intro economics textbooks never materialize. Great abuses have been carried out in the past 20-30 years in the names of those juvenile models.

I will just leave you with this. There were two predictions that were staples of economics textbooks in the 1970s and 1980s that later turned out to be absurdly false:
1. “If you pay customers interest on checking accounts, the entire financial system will collapse” - untrue, of course
2. the Phillips Curve - if unemployment drops below 5.5%, inflation will result; in the 1990s this was proven to be false - and yet there are many economists that still cling to the Phillips curve (their arguments are absurd and unconvincing). Their arguments are also politically motivated - they make these arguments because they are against full employment as a national economic policy. If full employment were pursued, workers would gain advantages over employers - and force employers to accept higher wages, lower profits. Powerful industry concerns are behind keeping the Phillips curve in economics textbooks.

There are many outstanding websites on economics as a discipline -surf away.

Watching CNBC to learn economics is like watching the news to learn history. They are interesting but most of the editorial comments are biased in favor of what is good for investors in the short term or for a particular firm or industry. However they do offer insight on how investors and money managers really make decisions which adds detail to what you learn on economic classes about how the economy and money markets work. Isnt a bmw z4 the perfect car for a 16 year old i mean kmon!?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

ok im a good driver and im very very very mature i mean i am the best! i swear lol anyway my dad is like no im not getting u the z4 cuz im “inexperienced” dude i’ve been driving for 6 months now i have a permit and im getting my license soon i deserve this car who agrees and who disagrees

btw i live in cali for i dont worry about snow and stuff its always hot here

the insurance is only 1320.00 every 6 months thats sooooooooo cheap

I say that your dad should def get you the bmw.
My daddy got me mine.
I’m pretty sure its the same one as that.
I don’t see why not. I mean dads are supposed to spoil us right??

…………………

i think that’s sort of tough because even if your a really responsible driver, others aren’t. You can’t control other people on the road. =/ I’m about your age too so I know how it feels to want a really sweet ride, but you have to consider why your dad isn’t letting you have this car.

btw you have great taste in cars!

…………..

wow dude. first of maybe you should get a job and buy yourself the car you want. Also 6 months….experienced? I think not. Im 20 and I drive almost 2,000 MILES EVERY WEEK! with a 40 Foot Bus as a part time job. I am still inexperience. I have never been in a wreck and thats with only 4 years of driving but im still young and inexperience.

………………

6 months is not what you call a experienced driver, drive for 2 years then i will say your experienced, the insurance is gonna be real high for you since your a teen plus ya i would also suggest starting off with a older car then work your way up to the z4

……….

DISAGREES
How about giving that expensive car when she turns 21 AND has a good driving record. My reasoning behind this statement are the following:

From the first link:
# In the U.S. during 2004, 4,767 teens ages 16 to 19 died of injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes. During 2005, nearly 400,000 motor vehicle occupants in this age group sustained nonfatal injuries severe enough to require treatment in an emergency department (CDC 2006).

# The risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among 16- to 19-year-olds than among any other age group. In fact, per mile driven, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are four times more likely than older drivers to crash (IIHS 2006).

# In 2005, teenagers accounted for 10 percent of the U.S. population and 12 percent of motor vehicle crash deaths (IIHS 2006).

# The presence of teen passengers increases the crash risk of unsupervised teen drivers; the risk increases with the number of teen passengers (Chen 2000).

From the second link:
While American teenagers know how to handle a car well enough to get a license, they tend to lack the maturity and judgment needed to drive safely in real-world conditions, according to Smith.

He told parents the first thing they should do is set a good example for their teenage children. If a parent runs stop signs, doesn’t use turn signals and eats and drinks while driving, then a teen is likely to do so, too.

Parents should restrict how much driving newly licensed teens do until they have gained more experience, Smith said. Teens need to focus their attention on the road and avoid distractions, particularly cell phones.

Furthermore, every teen passenger in a car increases the likelihood a teen driver will get into an accident. The speaker recommended parents limit passengers for the first six to nine months their child is driving.

From the third link:
How many teen related auto accidents occur each year?

Auto accidents are the number one killer of teens. Almost 6,000 teens die every year in auto accidents. Teens account for 14% of all motor vehicle accident deaths. 5,288 teens died in motor vehicle accidents in 2005 in the U.S. Crashes are the leading cause of death among teens, accounting for more than one-third of all deaths of 16 to 18 year-olds.
What are the primary factors for teen auto accidents?

Parents are often relieved when their teen starts driving because they don’t have to chauffeur them around anymore. The two primary factors that cause teen auto accidents are immaturity and inexperience. Teens are likely to engage in risky behavior, such as: speeding, not wearing a seat belt, passengers in the vehicle, night driving (9pm - 6am), alcohol, following other vehicles too close, passing inappropriately, & driver error. Young drivers tend to overestimate their own physical and driving abilities and underestimate the dangers on the road.
What is the age that teens are at the highest risk for auto accidents?

Sixteen year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers of any other age, including older teenagers. However, older teens are still high-risk drivers.
Is there a risk with my teen having passengers in the vehicle?

The presence of passengers can increase the risk by distractions and peer pressure to take risks. Teens often make poor decisions and deliberately seek thrills like speeding with passengers in the vehicle.

PS…I realize that “she has had her heart set on this car since she was 13″ Do you honestly think that a 16 year old has the necessary skills that driving any car??? Will she have a job to cover the cost necessary to insure such a costly car??? -or- will you have to cover the cost…(as well as the cost of the car??)

I am a divorced parent and my daughter sometimes begs relentlessly for things that are far beyond my budget. I have had to tell several times that we can’t afford it. Now, she understands…

Oh, by the way, since her friend died in the car accident, she has shown NO need to get her driver’s license at all. She is too scared to drive. She is my only child as well…and I want to keep it this way!

My daughter’s friend was had his first auto accident…a head on car crash…He was 17 when he died from injuries sustained in his first accident.

The Story of “Love”

I am the breezes that pass
Flirting with drowsy grass
I am the smell unseen
Of hearts forever green
I am the cloud that shades
The eyes where tears cascades
I am the touch of silk
Of a gown as white as milk
I am the angel’s melody
That makes the patient’s remedy
I am the guardian star
Watching from way too far
I am the sound of a delicate bell,
Which has the power of a magic spell
I am the arrow that once shot you
Would wash your heart by morning dew
I am the sugary toast of life
Tasted by the dead he’d be alive
And all my ways have always led
The mortal souls to celestial bed
There is my kingdom and my throne
There I was cherished and I was born
To parents who first called me “Love”
A holy gift from the God above

that’s a very beautiful poem .. in a traditional style ..some work on the phrasing perhaps .. a very beautiful poem and complete ! ..

………..

wow this is fascinating…it is love yessssss ..

Teens in Boarding Schools

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Why would anyone want to go to a boarding school when they expect to be taken away from home and spend most of their lives amongst their fellow students and some teachers? Parents who want to give their children a taste of what real life is outside of their ‘nests’, should consider enlisting their children to such schools. Giving them this whole, new level of learning would better make them prepared not only for college life but also their own lives when they finally set out on their own.

Boarding schools are not only meant to teach students but also to provide them with shelter and food for the duration of the term. Since these schools are mainly there for discipline in all aspects, teenagers would greatly benefit from them. A teen boarding school would help mold teenagers to become better individuals. Most people have a wrong connotation of this term as a place for troubled youth. Although this could be the case sometimes, teen boarding schools could also be a place mainly for education and further training.

For some problematic youth, there are also schools that are set up to meet their exact needs. These institutions are called boarding school for troubled youth. Such schools have psychological treatments and therapies that are prepared to meet special youth’s needs. It is also their aim that once the delinquent kids get out of their institutions, they have finally become better individuals and are ready to go out into the world and be a part of it once more.

Settle your Federal Taxes Online

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Over the years, there have been numerous difficulties regarding the complexities and intricacies of federal tax laws and policies. The administration of federal tax laws relies on the efficiency of the Internal Revenue Service, which has recently been advocating the electronic or online filing of tax returns.

By making this online or internet service free to eligible taxpayers (which actually compose a majority of the population), the settlement of federal tax matters has been made a lot easier. Some affiliate member-companies of the Free File Alliance LLC even offer a free federal return based on your state of residence. In this way, federal tax services are made available indiscriminately to the public at large.

The reduced burden of filing federal taxes

One of the most obvious advantages of online free filing is the diminished complexities and difficulties usually faced by the taxpayer. Through the participation of the affiliate companies, software is made available to the taxpayer for the easier preparation of their returns. This minimizes the chances for mistakes or errors on your return.

And since online tax filing is more convenient than the more burdensome traditional methods, there is less hassle for both the taxpayers and the IRS. Anybody can easily access these services online by visiting the IRS website, which is the starting point for the Free File Program.

Tim Russert :[?

RIP man. he was awesome.

It’s sad to lose such a man. On the other hand it’s a little comfort that he seemed to die happy, having just spent his vacation with family in Italy and celebrated his son’s graduation.

Yes, Tim was very well liked. Here is a web site about him and his book that he wrote about his father.

Today is a day of mourning. Baltimore will be lowering its flags to half staff.

Tim Russert was my favorite TV host. My Sundays will not be complete without him. Goodbye Tim!

I have just heard this news myself. I am saddened at the loss of such an honorable journalist. He was a good man who was passionate about his work and this country. Condolences to family and friends.
