Who Else Hates People that comment on your grammar and spelling?

Saturday, November 24th, 2007
  • OK; agreed - so what’s your question?
  • I agree. But why have you used capitals where they’re not needed?
  • Mines very bad, but the content of my answers make up for it =)
I find they moan because that’s the only thing they can moan about ;-)
  • I think those sorts of people need to grow up. Who cares if someone makes a spelling mistake, its not the end of the world.
  • eye doo
  • I hate people who do that too. you have put 4 extra capital letters
  • To those people your mistakes are the most irritating thing ever.
  • Why do you capitalize the occasional word?
    Could do better
  • What is wrong with correcting people and helping them learn?

I try not to hate, it’s a very negative emotion and will mess up your mojo.

  • No; even MORE irritating are people who can’t spell or write. Communication tends to get hazy if you have no spelling or grammar skills. Hazy communication leads to misunderstanding, violence, war, poverty, and scheit politicians being elected to office.
  • I think it’s kind of obnoxious.

I’m an English instructor at a university. I teach grammar, pronunciation, etc. to international undergraduate and graduate students. I have an MA in Applied Linguistics; yet I don’t feel the need to come on here and play grammar police.

Misspelling and making minor grammar errors on Yahoo Answers, where people have no need to proofread or revise, are not serious issues. As long as people can understand the questions, they shouldn’t correct. They’re just being pompous wiseasses.

  • If you were an effective communicator, then you would not be irritated by those who have to correct you.
  • I agree.
    But sometimes it’s funny.
    Like Ross on Friends.
    :]
  • I hate it.im dyslexic.
its a disability for some people so there taking the Mick out of someone whose disabled people would go made if a racist comment was made
  • I hates it too, mmm, hates it, my precious
  • I hate when people type their whole question/answer in “txt spk”

it’s like, you dont need to! And no-one can understand it!

but i dont mind a few grammar mistakes or spelling mistakes, i dont bother using proper grammar on here (but i try to keep my spelling good)

sometimes the person might be dyslexic so its not their fault

and when i write a question i always put every word with a capital letter to make it more interesting :)

  • Yeah, it’s kind of irritating I suppose, LOL!!!!!

But, if you used proper spelling and grammar I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t be annoyed by it any more.

  • Granted it’s annoying, but hate them? That’s a bit much isn’t it? I can think of a lot bigger things to get P.O.’d about.
  • Some times there are so many errors; it is hard to understand the question. Then they post it again because they didn’t get any answers. UGH!!!
  • Meee
Its Not Like Im In School
  • I hate them also
    p.s you spelt prove wrong
  • Me!!
I come on here to ask Qs and Answer Qs, not for an English lesson!! Lol
  • Omg! I know! Is sooooooooo annoying! Like who cares about grammar! Seriously!
  • Personally I think it is disgusting to comment on someone spelling, not everyone is good at spelling and even spell check is not infallible, many times I have used the spell check only to find after i have submitted it that there is still a word spelt wrong and then have had to edit it. I don’t care how people spell things, if I can read between the lines and understand what they are asking i will still answer, without comment on their spelling.
  • I agree with Freakin. I got irritated once on here when someone pointed out a spelling mistake but I’ve never forgotten how to spell that word again, loll! I’m glad it was pointed out because I’m happy to learn.
  • Thank you for speaking up couldn’t have said it better.I do not like it at all makes you knida want to do it more just to irate them …loll
  • I’m not bothered by the caps… but you misspelled “prove”.
  • I AgReE WiTh YoU. It’S VeRy AnNoYiNg, IsN’t It? Yeah exactly!
It’s not like u asked them to correct ur mistakes or something!
What they have to do is answer your question that’s all!
    Not criticizes spelling!
it gets like so on my nerves

Online Training is Beneficial for Your Employees

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Your employees will benefit significantly by being trained through an LMS. This is a learning management system and it is so beneficial because employees are able to direct their learning at their own pace. This means those who need to go a little slower in order to understand the online training can go a little slower and the ones who need to go a little faster can go a little faster. It’s all about allowing employees to train themselves with elearning software so that they are involved in the learning process, paying attention, and in control of the speed they learn at. Some people will think that this type of learning is not useful and that it is impossible to learn this way. However, that is really not the case at all. Most people are able to learn the information they need to learn via the LMS. All you need to do is call a company that specializes in implementing LMS software and programs and find out what will work with your company. You have control over the courses offered so you can choose to offer a course on changing ppt to flash and another on Microsoft Office. Some classes will be more appropriate than others for different employees, so be sure you keep this in mind.

1. How do I teach kindergarteners English and phonics?

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007
  1. phonics is bad
    better teach the mKoerean !
  2. abc’s are always a good start…teach them animals that go with each letter of the alphabet, ha!
  3. in my childrens school they teach them jolly phonics check out this site

    http://www.jollylearning.co.uk

  4. Well it depends on the given curriculum for the school and if you are teaching English as a first or second language.

Some schools have their teachers, teach half of the alphabet in KG1 and the other half in KG2. Usually the name of the letter is taught, then the basic phonic sound of each letter . A picture or object is given or shown with the sound of the letter. This is backed up with an activity to reinforce the sound of the letter and then a worksheet- tracing the letter & colouring ( evaluation) to complete the final part of the lesson. This helps the teacher to get feedback from her teaching method and acts as a final reinforcement for the letter/s of the day/week.

This is very brief indeed, you really have to read a lot more and you will probably have some ideas from your training.

  5. They must learn concepts of print. Show them we read left to right, titles of books, the front the back of books…things like that. We think kids know this stuff, many do not have a clue.

Start with teaching them the letters of the alphabet, no writing, just listening and looking. Letter sound correspondence, this is an m, the sound is mmmm….then ask, what letter, m…what sound, mmmm? Vowels last. Then segmenting and blending the sounds to make words. m a t, the sounds…..say it slow…m a t….then put sounds together, what word….mat! All orally at first.

Encourage lots of talking and chatting, especially after a book you read to them. This will build vocabulary, show and tell to give them opportunities to talk, use vocabulary, you must always model correct English. Put the names of objects around the classroom…door, chair..concrete examples of words….apple..show a picture, then show a real one. Multiple exposure to vocabulary is key as well as practice.

Their level of English proficiency should determine where to start with their reading/phonics. If they do not speak ANY English, silent phase, that’s a whole other story….

A good book to get is right here. Excellent. I use it constantly. Good luck to you!

Corporate Universities

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

You may have heard of a corporate university before, but were not quite sure what it was. Basically, a corporate university is simply an enterprise computer training system that teaches employees about different aspects of the company, skills, and more. It is like college, in a sense, except that it is provided by the corporation. Today, corporate universities have changed significantly from in the past thanks to the Internet. Now, much of the training is via enterprise e-learning. This makes it easier for students to train themselves right over the computer and valuable resources are not spread thin trying to teach many new skills to lots of different employees. The basic purpose of corporate universities is to train individuals, hone their skills, and create more managers in the manufacturing environment. This is beneficial to companies that are growing because they can train and promote from within. Now, most individuals who come across a corporate university will find managerial and leadership training rather than the training of the past. That is simply because more well trained managers and leaders are needed. As the economy changes so does the need for certain type of individuals and now managers are in high demand.

Student Loan Consolidation Info - Why Should You Co-sign a Student Loan?

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

At the time of researching your student loan consolidation info alternatives you should look at co-signer and no co-signer student loans, as often when the original borrower has poor credit, they ask a secondary party to guarantee to pay for the loan and they are called a co-signer. Many students do not start out with credit accounts and they have never even had a car loan. This causes them to have a very short credit history. Many times our students have made poor decisions in the past with their credit.

They often end up with a balance on their credit card that they can’t repay with monthly payments. Having a poor credit score, or the lack of one will put the hopeful applicant into what is known as a high risk credit category. Loan officers are trained to look for that information in your credit history, even the ones with a federal student aid plan. Loan applications can be denied, or accepted, but with a high interest rate to offset the probability that your loan will go into default.

Co-signers are needed in the event of bad credit or simply having no credit score at all. Generally the co-signer will be the parents of the borrower or other close relative. Bankers will evaluate whether or not to loan you money based on your parent’s credit history, FICO score and debt to income amount. Now, it is up to the parents credit for deciding what the interest percentages will be. Generally those with a poor credit score will have higher interest rates than ones with superior credit ratings. A popular student loan plan shows that with an interest amount of 4% it will cost $5,489 in interest and at 6% it rises to $10,647. A 2% difference doesn’t sound like much, but given contemporary borrowing levels and compounding, such a scenario is not unrealistic.

Students and parents are often financing up to $100,000 for their education. Even if you make the interest payments while the student is in school, so that it doesn’t add to your balance owed, the payment would be $567 at a 6.8% interest rate every month. The interest amounts for the entire year would be about $6,600. Lowering that interest rate to 5% (the official amount for a need-based Perkins loans) reduces those numbers to $417 and $4,820. Remember the example is assuming payments will begin immediately while the student is in school.

If the interest is not deferred or subsidized, waiting to start the payments until you are out of school will cause these numbers to be much higher. Over the length of the loan, a co-signer will help to lower your overall amounts paid in interest by getting a better interest rate than you would have gotten on your own. Many websites have a great calculator for figuring sample situations that might apply to you. The information detail in this article will form an important part of any student consolidation loan information.
