Color your fantasies

The success of every parent they say lie in comprehending the talents of their children and doing all they can to help establish themselves in the fields they choose to. So, if you want to be a successful parent, you would be required to observe your children and find out their interests. You need to be proactive enough to look for the best places that you can buy art supplies for your children at the best rates. These art supplies might include and range from anything to easels and paint brushes and colors and chart papers to anything that your child might require. As a parent, one has to be well informed about the kids’ art supplies and the places where these can found at low costs without any compromise on the quality. Kids art supplies can be gifted to children at the time of their birthdays and these can be delightful to them. Quality easels should be chosen as the height of the easels and the degree in which it slants matter when kids are using this kind of art supplies. When parents purchase kids art supplies for their children, the children will feel that parents think they mean the world to them and strive to excel in their arts.

My 20 month old has this horrible diaper rash…

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Hi everyone. My son who is 20 months old is getting this horrible diaper rash and its starting to bleed. He is getting it on his back side and where kids usually get a diaper rash. I have done everything that I could think to try to treat it, but as soon as you think it is going away it comes right back. I have taken him to the doctor, and she seems to think it could be from the brand of diapers. I have changed diapers and it is still coming back. Do you guys have any suggestions? Please don’t tell me ” ohhh, you need to potty train him” I am working with him with it, so he is trying.

Did your ped not think that it could be a diaper rash with a touch of yeast infection? Especially since it keeps coming back??

I know that my daughter has had a rash in the past similar to that. Go to the drug store and buy some Lotrimin. Use that on his bottom and then put a layer of vaseline over the top to act as a barrier against the urine and feces touching his skin. It should clear up pretty quick if it is a yeast infection.

Best of luck, I hope his poor bottom gets some relief soon!!!

My son got a diaper rash at the hospital. They swore up and down to use zinc oxide on his tush, which, in fact, made it 20 times worse. I ended up getting A&D ointment. It was clear within 3 days of A&D vs over a week of worsening condition with the zinc oxide. You can also try using toddler underwear. After you change a diaper, don’t put any ointment on him, just put some cotton underwear on him and let him “air dry” for awhile. The air will help him heal. Then put ointment on and diaper him up.

Almost 10 month old baby suddenly not wanting solids?

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Hi all!
I am a breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby wearing Mommy to a beautiful 9.5 (almost 10) month old baby boy. I have been practicing Baby Led Weaning since about 6 months old and my son has always done really well with solids. For the last 2 weeks or so, all he wants to do is nurse. He has no teeth yet but his gums don’t look red or swollen… He’s not drooling a whole bunch… But he is chewing on his fingers/toys a lot. I’m just worried about the sudden change in eating habits. He truly enjoyed all kinds of food and now refuses everything but the breast. I took him to the doctor and he does not have an ear infection and is still gaining weight (he’s 23lbs!). Has anyone else that breastfeeds experienced this? Should I be worried? I’ve kinda just gone with the flow since he is still nursing very well. Any suggestions?

I have a breastfeed >1yr old who has always had a ‘BLW’ solid diet, and every now and then she goes through little periods where solids are of almost no interest at all. We just went through a few days of her barely eating any solids — and then today she scarfed a whole piece of toast for breakfast, a bowl of lasagna for lunch, and a burrito for dinner, with a homemade popsicle too. No worries. “Go with the flow” is the way to do it.

My 2yr old son had dark green poop, what does it mean?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

I changed his pants and there was dark green poop with the consistency of maybe oatmeal.

He had oatmeal with dried fruits and cinnamon and orange juice for breakfast. For lunch he had a small salami sandwich and milk. For dinner he had chicken and brown/white rice combo.

Should I be worried?

It usually means a lot of iron in your system. No I don’t think it’s anything to worry about but if it continues you may want to contact your doctor.

Keep him on the toilet, and keep his food simple for the next few days, and if there’s any vomit with in that time, then yes, be worried. Other wise, his stomach just didn’t like the mixture.

The whole mechanism of delivering a child, of course, involves the actual exit of the baby through the mother’s pelvis. A traditional reference has developed through generations of obstetricians. This reference, called “station,” is used to document on the record how far down the head of the baby has descended toward delivery. In discussing a laboring situation, nurses and doctors must be able to convey information that can be understood universally among them. The station is based on how far down the head has dropped in relation to two bony prominences (called the ischial spines) at mark the midpelvis (halfway out). When an exam is done, the position of the “presenting part,” i.e., that part of the baby (hopefully, the top of the head) that will be the first to deliver is felt as compared to the ischial spines. If the very top of the head is AT the ischial spines, it’s called a zero station. And for every centimeter distance from the spines, either above or below, the presenting part can be said to be anywhere between -3 and +3. “-3″ is 3 cm. above the ischial spines. +3 is 3 cm below the ischial spines, and, well, you better call the doctor, because that baby’s about to deliver! True, a +3 station shows the baby’s scalp on the perineum (at the opening of the vagina).

Although we assess station during the last weeks of prenatal care (or in the case of preterm labor), its most frequent application is in labor. Progress in labor is assessed by means of several parameters, namely cervical consistency (soft to firm), cervical effacement (shortening), cervical position (posterior, anterior, or mid), cervical dilatation (0 to 10 cm) and station (-4 which is just coming into the pelvis to +4 station which is on the perineum or ready to be born). When the top of the fetal head (or other presenting part as in a breech presentation), arrives at the level of the ischial spines, the baby is said to be at 0 station or “engaged.”

Primigravidas (women having their first baby) typically engage before labor and may enter labor at -1, 0 or even +1 station.

Multigravidas (women having their second or greater baby) often engage during labor

What Maternity Size are You

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Most women believe if they are a large in regular life they will be a size large when they are pregnant. Or, if they are a size small then they will wear a size small while they are pregnant. Some women who want to wear celebrity maternity clothes will find that the sizes in these items are different as well. You want to have a chic mama pregnancy and the only way to go about doing that is to figure out what style looks best on you. It will take a little while for you to find the clothes that you like that also look good on you and that you feel comfortable in.
